BC EDI Provincial Report released

The Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) at the University of British Columbia has released its first ever EDI provincial report for BC.

The report provides an overview of the trends from the past 10 years of EDI collection. The report includes easy to access results for five waves of the EDI, including domains and subdomains (called scales and subscales in BC).

The report is also available in a print version.

HELP has also released community profiles and interactive maps for its Wave 6 collection of EDI data.

The report has received media coverage in the Vancouver Sun, CBC, Maclean’s, and Metro News.

Quick Facts

  • HELP has collected EDI data for over 245,000 kindergarten children in BC since 2001
  • Vulnerability has meaningfully increased over the last decade, from 29.9% in Wave 2 (2004-2007) to 32.2% in Wave 6 (2013-2016)
  • Vulnerability has declined in Language & Cognitive Development, stayed the same in Communication Skills & General Knowledge, and increased in Physical Health & Well-Being, Social Competence, and Emotional Maturity
